Non-standard means the opening is not a stock size. Rather than force a standard leaf and fill the gap, the door is built to the measurement. This is normal on renovation work, older buildings and anything with an arched or oversized opening.
What to check before you order
- Opening size. Measure the clear opening width, height and wall thickness. The door is built to those figures, so the measurement is the specification.
- Allowance for adjustment. Leave room around the frame so the door can be levelled during installation rather than forced into the opening.
- Locking. Confirm the lock type and the number of locking points — this is what determines the security level, not the thickness of the face panel.
